RBE No.85/1985 Cadre – Technical Supervisors – Recruitment – Engineering Graduates

Sub: Cadre of Technical Services – Direct recruitment of Engineering Graduates in scale Rs.700 900.
1. In this Ministry’s letter No.PCIII/84/UPG/3, dated 01.05.1984 it was laid down that 20% of vacancies arising after 01.01.1984 in grade Rs.700-900 the category of Technical Supervisors of all Department will be filled by direct recruitment of Engineering Graduates through Railway Service Commissions (now Railway Recruitment Boards) and there will be no direct recruitment in future in the grade of Rs.550-750.
2. The Ministry of Railways have been considering the question of modalities of selection for this recruitment, period of training of the graduate recruits and certain allied matters.
3. They have now decided as under:-
(1) The Railway Recruitment Board, where they consider it necessary, can co-opt a fourth member on the interview Board. This member will be drawn from one of the four engineering discipline i.e. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Signal & Telecommunication. He should be an officer not below the JA grade. In this connection, attention is invited to this Ministry’s letter No.E(NG)II/83/RR1/7, dated 08.02.1985 (RBE No.46/1985).
(2) The period of training of the engineering graduates should be twelve months. Railway Administration should take action to draw up an appropriate syllabus for the training.
(3) For recruitment of Engineering Graduates notified up to 31st December, 1987 relaxation in upper age limit for serving Railway employees for induction against this direct recruitment quota in the grade Rs.700-900 will be upto 45 years instead of 35 years as provided for in this Ministry’s letter No.E(NG)II-73-PNE-315, dated 20.11.1976.
