Sub: Payment of Additional Dearness Allowance to Railway employees – Revised rates effective from 01.08.1985 and 01.11.1985.
1. Reference Railway Board’s letter No.PCIII-85/DA/1, dated the 2nd September, 1985 (RBE No.254/1985) on the above subject.
The President is pleased to decide that the rates of Additional Dearness Allowance specified in pars 1 of that letter will stand modified as follows:

| (v) Above Rs.900 and upto Rs.1000 | Rs.127 plus 102% of pay | |
| (vi) Above Rs.1000 and upto Rs.1030 | Amount by which pay falls short of Rs.2147 | |
| (vii) Above Rs.1030 and upto Rs.2000 | Rs.1117 | |
| 01.11.1985 onwards | (i) Upto Rs.300 | 161.5% of pay subject to a minimum of Rs.35 plus 144% of pay and a maximum of Rs.482 |

2. The rates of Additional Dearness Allowance as specified in para 1 above are payable in addition to dearness allowance at rates mentioned in item (3) of para 1 of Railway Board’s letter No.PCIII/73/DA, dated 12.02.1975 in so far as they relate to employees getting pay upto Rs.2000 p.m.
3. The total dearness allowance as well as additional dearness allowance on pay above Rs.2000 will continue to be regulated as indicated in para 3 of this office letter of even number dated 2nd September, 1985 (RBE No.254/1985).
4. Further adhoc dearness allowance admissible to officers getting pay above Rs.1518 p.m. will continue to be regulated under para 4 of this office letter of even number dated 2nd September, 1985 (RBE No.254/1985).
5. The payment on account of dearness allowance will be rounded off to the nearest 10 paise.
