Sub: Payment of Additional Dearness Allowance to Railway Employees – Revised rates effective from 01.01.1985.
1. Reference this Ministry’s letter No.PC III/85/DA/1, dated 19.01.1985 (RBE No.24/1985) on the above mentioned subject. The President is pleased to decide that the rates of Additional Dearness Allowance specified in para 1 of that letter will stand modified as above.

| (v) Above Rs.900 and up to Rs.1000 | Rs.127 plus 96% of pay | |
| (vi) Above Rs.1000 and up to Rs.1600 | Rs.1087 | |
| (vii) Above Rs.1600 and up to Rs.1660 | Amount by which pay falls short of Rs.2687 | |
| (viii) Above Rs.1600 and up to Rs.2000 | Rs.1027 |
2. The rates of additional dearness allowance as specified in para 1 above are payable in addition to dearness allowance at the rates mentioned in item (3) of para 1 of this Ministry’s letter No.PCIII/73/DA, dated 12.02.1975 in so far they relate to employees granting pay up to Rs.2000 p.m.
3. The total dearness allowance as well as additional dearness allowance on the pay above Rs.2000 p.m. will continue to be regulated as indicated in para 3 of this Ministry’s letter of even number dated 19.01.1985 (RBE No.24/1985) as from 01.01.1985 onwards.
4. Further ad-hoc Dearness Allowance admissible to Officers getting pay above Rs.1638 p.m. will continue to be regulated as under para 4 of this Ministry’s letter of even number dated 19.01.1985 (RBE No.24/1985) as from 01.01.1985 onwards.
5. The payment on account of dearness allowance and additional dearness allowance will be rounded off to the nearest 10 paise.
