Sub:   Extracts of the proceedings of the General Managers’ Conference with the Ministry of Railways held on 17th & 18th April, 1985.

Enclosed please find relevant extracts from the proceedings to the General Managers’ Conference held on 17th and 18th April, 1985 and other than open line on 22.04.1985 at New Delhi for necessary action.

In order to facilitate connection of relevant instructions references thereof are indicated in the Annexure.

Extracts of the proceedings of the General Managers’ Conference with the Ministry of Railways held on 17th and 18th April, 1985 at New Delhi.

MR was keen that Sports was given due importance and encouragement on the Railways. He wanted the directives issued in this regard to be implemented and team spirit and sportsmanship developed amongst the Railway employees.

Chairman, Railway Board stated that MSR has also taken keen interest in Sports. Recently instructions have been issued in this regard and certain major concessions have been given to sportsmen. The new sports policy has been launched from 1st April, 1985. MSR stated that circular bas been sent to General Managers and they should implement with great deal.

Extracts of proceedings of GMs’ Conference (other than Open line) held on 22.04.1985.

MSR stated that he has trying to give filling to sports on the Railways. He stated that directives issued in this regard to the various subordinate and attached office should be implemented.

4 RSCB/GM/85, dated 14.05.1985 and 25.05.1985 Introduction of junior level competitions at Inter-Division/ Inter-Railway levels with stress on large participation of railwaymen’s children in games like Athletics, Volleyball, Hockey and football to begin with.
