RBE No.193/2000: Appointments on Compassionate Ground – Medical De-categorization

No.E(NG)II/95/RC-1/94, date 10.11.2000
(SC No.45 to MC No.16)

Sub: Appointments on Compassionate Ground – Cases of medical de-categorization.

1. One of the Zonal Railways has sought Board’s clarification as to whether requests received for compassionate appointment in case of medical de-categorized employees who chose to retire voluntarily on medical grounds, before issuance of Board’s letter dated 18.01.2000 (RBE No. 08/2000), should be entertained.
2. The matter has been considered by the Board and it has been decided that, in all those cases, in which an employee, declared as medically de-categorized before the issuance of Board’s letter dated 29.04.1999 (RBE No. 89/1999), sought voluntary retirement but he has not yet been given alternative appointment nor he has been adjusted against a supernumerary post, the facility of appointment on compassionate ground may be extended to one ward.
3. This also disposes off S.E. Rly’s letter No.P/Comp/Policy/Pt-IV/Loose/907, dated 28.04.2000.
