Traffic Apprentices: RBE No.26/1988 – Recruitment of
No.E(NG)II/84/RC-3/15, dated 11.02.1988
Sub: Recruitment of Traffic Apprentices.
In para 2 (VIII) of Board’s letter No.E(NG)II/84/RC-3/15, dated 15.05.1987 (RBE No.119/1987) it has been laid down that the period of training for Traffic Apprentices to be recruited in future for absorption in scale Rs.1600-2660 will be two years instead of three years.
It has been represented by organised labour that the period of training of Traffic Apprentices recruited for absorption in the lower scale Rs.1400-2300 and who are still undergoing training, should also be reduced to two years as training for only two years has been prescribed for recruitment to the higher scale of Rs.1600-2660.
The matter has been considered by the Board.
Keeping in view the fact that the Traffic Apprentices currently under training on different Railways may be at different stages of the training course, the Board have decided that the Railway Administration shall have the authority to reduce the period of training of Traffic Apprentices recruited in the scale Rs.1400-2300 and still undergoing training, to the extent the respective Railway Administrations consider it feasible and advisable to do so, subject to the following conditions:
(i) In no case should the period of training be less than two years; and
(ii) While reducing the period of training it should be ensured that the entire course content, theoretical as well as practical, is covered within the reduced period of training.
