Widow Mother: RBE No.194/2001 – Inclusion in Privilege Pass of Widow CGA

Sub: Inclusion of deceased Railway employee’s widow mother in the Privilege pass of the widow appointed on compassionate grounds. (ACS No.37).

1. In terms of para 3 of Board’s letter No.E(W)96 PS5-8/2, 24.07.2000  (RBE No.142/2000), dependent widow mother of a diseased Railway employee has been allowed to be included in the widow pass as a family member of the widow. However, when the widow gets appointed on the Railways on compassionate grounds, widow mother of the diseased Railway employee is not eligible for inclusion in the privilege pass of the widow Railway employee.

2. Arising out of a demand by NFIR in the PNM Meeting, it has been decided that dependent widow mother of the diseased Railway employee may be included in the privilege pass of the widows appointed on compassionate grounds.

3. Rule 2(c) of Railway Servants (Pass) Rules, 1986, Second Edition – 1993, is accordingly amended as per Advance Correction Slip No.37 enclosed.

4. This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.

Add the following as item (vii) under rule 2(c):

“(vii) Widow mother-in-law in case of widows, appointed on compassionate grounds, weather her father is alive or not.”
